In Augusta, Ga on May 30, 2013 a wounded soldier returned home with a BIG warm welcome. U.S. Army Specialist Samuel Walley 20 years old stepped on an IED last June while serving in Afghanistan. He lost one of his
arms and one of his legs. His parents were with him during his recovery in Maryland. Walley said that if he wouldn't have had anybody there, imagine how devastating that probably
would've been. So yeah, it's definitely been one of the only ways he was able to
make it through. Nobody is going to make it through on their own. Hundreds of people lined the streets in downtown Winder with signs and American
flags to salute Walley. He was escorted by a motorcade into Winder on Georgia
Highway 11. This was his first visit home since he was hurt. He said he still feels pain when he walks, but the doctors gave him the ok to go home. How awesome is this, he plans on re-enlisting into the Army as a firearms instructor. Sam is getting another homecoming gift. AmVets and Home Depot teamed
up to remodel the basement in the Walley house to fit Sam's specific needs. How awesome is that? The compassion people have for one another is great.

Freedom of speech??
Freedom of speech from a Christians point of view. We have a friend named David who loves the Lord as we do and he loves to witness to people. He has gone as far as Indiana to spread the word of our Lord. He never misses an opportunity to witness. He passes out tracts, they look like business cards, real cool. No he does not make people take them. It's entirely up to the person who he has approached if they want a tract or to hear the gospel. Well he told me today how this past weekend he went to Stone Mountain Park and was witnessing to 3 Muslim women and they were listening and having a great conversation, when out of the blue some crazed lady started yelling and getting loud telling David to leave those women alone they don't want to hear it. Then that womans husband started on David too. So these crazy people had nothing better to do than to go to park patrol and tell them that David was witnessing. You know its not up to the crazy people to determine if those Muslim women should hear what David was saying, its up to them. If they were listening whats the big deal?? Just because some people may not want to hear the gospel doesn't mean other people don't want to or shouldn't. Since David wasn't talking to that crazed couple to begin with maybe they should of kept on walking. So the park patrol told David where he could witness, that there was a place for that in the food court area. To me anytime is a great time to spread the word of God. I say keep doing what you are doing David. One love, One way, One God!! John 3:16

School's out for SUMMER!!
Well its not officially summer yet, but school is out. Time to have lots of fun. Whether its fishing, swimming, playing basketball, vacations or having a bbq, its all about spending time with the family. So far to kick off our summer before its summer we have been swimming, and fishing. Swimming is awesome to cool off on these hot days. Just use the sunscreen. You gotta protect your skin. Little ones should always wear floaties or a kiddie life vest. Even the older children should use precautions while swimming: No running (slippery when wet), No diving in shallow water (you could hit your head), NEVER swim alone. Just a few rules that should be taken seriously. Fishing well that's a smelly situation. Oh and slimy..gross. I love fishing, but I can't touch the worms, to slimy for me. Oh and what about the smell in the house after you filet the fish you caught??? Smells real good huh? Yeah right. Stinky!! It's fun family time here in the south and we here hope everyone there has a safe and fun summer!!
Poor Baby!
Today as I scanned the internet news, I came across a story about a newborn baby in China. So I thought I would read it and see what was going on. Well come to find out a newborn baby was stuck in a sewer pipe, after the mother of the baby gave birth in the toilet. The mother of the baby said that she the baby slipped out of her hands and went down the toilet drain. The baby was freed by firefighters a few hours after the call was made about sounds coming from the pipes. The baby was taken to the hospital and is said to be stable, except for a few bruises on his legs, arms, and head. The baby known at the hospital as Baby No. 59, weighed 6 pounds, 2.8 ozs. People have came to the hospital to donate diapers, formula, and clothes. Pray for this precious baby boy. Here's a video of his freedom from the sewer pipe. http://www.today.com/video/today/52019063#52019063

See ya later, Alligator
Alligator in the Chattahoochee River, OH MY!! Rangers believe the alligator has made a home in the swamp land in the Chattahoochee National Recreation Area on the Cobb County side of the river but near some condos and apartments. There have been sightings for a few years, and yesterday finally there are photos. The photo is of a 8-10 foot almost 300 pound gator just lying there. Not sure if I'd been standing there taking pictures, but my husband would of. Regular sightings have prompted the park service to post warning signs near the swamps and main walking trails. The signs urge hikers to keep their small pets on a leash. Some are worried that recent wet weather pushed the alligator's turf closer to apartments. They are leaving the gator at the river for now, so be on the look out. Be safe.

Have a blessed and safe Memorial Day
To all who may be celebrating or just staying cool inside, I hope all have a safe Memorial Day! Yeah BBQ's are fun, but that's not what its about. Memorial Day is about remembering all of the soldiers who died serving our great country. Yesterday during our morning church service we watched a video of just a few of the fallen. There are so many who fought for our freedom. So remember them and their families. Many soldiers did make it back home and may not be the same. They seen a lot fighting for our freedom, and now those horrible images will be with them forever. My brother in law is one who has a hard time. Right now he is in a VA hospital getting the treatment he needs. May God Bless you all and have a blessed and safe Memorial Day!!

Homeless man’s stolen dog returned after Facebook campaign
A homeless man goes to sleep with his best friend (Handover) his pet pooch by his side, and wakes to find his dog missing. His dog went missing on May 8, 2013 in Hudson Florida. The man said that his dog is his best friend, his heart and soul, if anyone sees him please bring him home. Friends of the mans set up a facebook page asking for help and once word spread reward money was raised. Soon after Handover was returned. The couple that returned him wanted the reward money to be used for the owner and Handover. This is such a great story of how there is still good people who want to do the right thing.

It's getting HOT out here!!
It's getting hot here in south. I can't stand when it's freezing, so I say I can't wait for it to get warm. Now that it is getting warm or HOT, I'm ready for it to be cool. On these hot days there is nothing better than cooking outside on the grill. It keeps the inside of our house from getting so hot. The smell of the grill, well there's nothing better.
Yesterday hamburgers, and today some honey chicken kabobs. Sounds yummy huh?? Well back to this heat, it's horrible. Today we washed our car.
The cold water made it easier to be outside. A few splashes here and there. It was fun, a family fun time washing the car. How my boys can ride bikes and play basketball in this heat I don't know.
Last night after the sun went down, we played a basketball game of loser, that was fun too. Hubby was first out, then me, then my oldest son, and my youngest son won. Family time is always fun even when its hot outside.

A story of being reunited.
13 years ago when Alyssa Haskew was 6 years old she was in an accident after the car was knocked out of gear. On that the day Scott Thomas was the paramedic who helped save her life. She has waited more than a decade to say thank you to Mr. Thomas. The story aired last week on the news in search of the paramedic who helped her. She said the he stayed with her and he held her hand when they sewed up her face.
After the story aired, Mr. Thomas said his phone started ringing off the hook. He said, "that everyone remembers the call, because it tore me up a little bit". On Tuesday he met with Alyssa and she got to thank him. Mr. Thomas said, "what makes this reunion even better is that it's EMS Appreciation Week, but he said that he doesn't feel like a hero". God was on both of their shoulders that day and took care of Alyssa. Thank God for people who love to help people. Its more than their job, its their compassion and love for others.

Tips to keep your kids safe at the pool
It's that time of year again when families are getting ready to go swimming. Whether you have your own pool or you are going to someone else's pool, you need to take safety precautions. Floaties which are also known as water wings are the most common product on the
market, but they can leak air or come off of slippery little arms. Instead, use a life vest. And those pool noodles you find at most dollar stores? They're a toy—and they
shouldn't be used by children who aren't strong swimmers, they can be useful for parents who might not be strong swimmers because they can
be used as a reaching device to help a struggling swimmer. Every pool in Georgia is required to have a shepherd's crook and a ring buoy, you should keep them close by at all times, because the closer they are, the
quicker you can help someone in distress. If you go to a lake or a beach this summer, you should take a reaching tool with
you. It can be as simple as a mop or a broom handle, something that can allow
you to help someone else struggling in the water. Have a great summer and stay safe.
Pray for Oklahoma
The state of Oklahoma was hit by a monster tornado that has killed at least 51 people today. It tore walls off an elementary school and left behind miles of cars and splintered wood. The Mayor said the city looks like a debris field. The tornado struck at mid-afternoon and tore a 20-mile path, said Rick Smith, another weather service meteorologist. He said it was on the ground for 40 minutes. Much of the storm’s rampage was captured on live television, perhaps alerting people in its path to seek shelter. Please keep the families of the ones who lost their lives in your prayers and the ones who are hurt.

A very sad story.
Couple's unborn baby has terminal defect. This couple are making burial arrangements for their unborn son, instead of getting ready to bring him home after he is born. The baby (Ethan) has a rare neural tube defect. There is no skull or brain above where the eyebrow would be. The dad is a firefighter and he is working 2 firefighter jobs to make ends meet. The couple has no life insurance on their unborn child, so Lauren Bishop (the mother) started a facebook page to raise money to bury their son. If you can help I know they will appreciate it.
Please keep this family in your prayers.

American Idol
My family and I watch American Idol and it's that time again to vote. The 2 finalist are Kree and Candice. They are both really good. My youngest son wants Kree to win. Last season on American Idol Phillip Phillips won and my oldest son helped me vote 700 times for him. Good luck to both Kree and Candice. Both will have a great singing career. This is Randy Jackson's last year as a judge. Sad! Good luck to Randy too. Watch the 2 hour result show tomorrow night at 8 P.M. on Fox.

Bailey O'Neil
On an earlier blog I wrote about a boy named Bailey. He got into a fight at school, which is thought to be a bullying situation. And shortly after he started having seizures and the doctors put him on life support. The day after he turned 12 his parents took him off life support. Today I got to thinking about him and wondered if they came up with his cause of death. Well I read that the seizures had nothing to do with him being hit 4 times, 2 of those hits being to the face. I pray for his mom and his family. Remember this little boy and remember that the bullying has got to stop!! If your child sees someone being bullied, please tell them to tell a teacher or a counselor. No child deserves to be bullied and if we don't defend them then who will?

What a deal!!
Wal-mart had a great sale 2 days ago..as we were shopping I heard an announcement that there was a sale in the men's department. I continued with my grocery shopping, and thought I'd go take a look to see what kind of deal they were talking about. As I approached the rack I seen the crowd of people and I knew then it had to be a good sale. So my short self managed to get in between people and see exactly what was going on. I was shocked to see Georgia Bulldog shirts on sale for 1 buck, yes 1 buck. Those shirts were going fast, but I managed to get 3 of them. So the next day I go back to see if they had anymore deals like that one, but they didn't. I was there at the right time that day.

Excuse me!! :)
So my sons and me come home today from shopping and school, my hubby informs me on the phone before we get home that he is watching a Chinese movie. So we get home and put up groceries. I go into our game room where hubby is watching the movie and I make a phone call. I was shocked when hubby told me he was going to have to turn the T.V. up, because he can't hear...Well the movie is in Chinese and he had to read the words at the bottom of the screen..I guess he couldn't hear himself read silently. So I decided to sit on our front porch and enjoy the outside air. It was funny though, he was really into that movie and reading it.

Popcorn and what??
It all started a few months ago at the movies. My hubby bought us some popcorn and as we added more butter, I noticed some jalapeno peppers staring at me. Then it hit me..now it's like whats popcorn without my peppers. I love this mix. Yum it's so good. My hubby even eats it too. I tell you it's very addictive and if you love peppers and popcorn, I recommend trying it.
Otis Nixon
Otis Nixon a former Atlanta Braves player needs your prayers. This morning as I listened to favorite christian radio station 104.7 The Fish, they were talking about how we should pray for Otis and not judge him. They are right. Everybody, everyone of us has done things that maybe we shouldn't, but we rise above it. Just like Otis will. Cheer for him now, just like when he was playing for the Atlanta Braves. Keep Otis Nixon in your prayers.

We love bowling!!
My sons, husband and myself love bowling. Here at our local bowling alley we go on Monday's and bowl for 99 cents a game per person, and the cost of shoe rental if you don't have your own bowling shoes. This is such a way to spend time with the family doing something they all love to do. It's fun to watch other people bowl too. We seen one guy bout throw his whole body down the lane. It's also cool to see people get strikes and see their excitement. My youngest son finally got a strike on the last game we were playing the final frame, how cool. My oldest son well, he beat us all. My hubby he thought he was going to win, but when he seen he wasn't going to, he decided he doesn't like bowling anymore. HAHA!! There's also a gameroom, laser tag and bumper cars.

Getting ready for my youngest sisters wedding!!
Can you hear it?? Listen real good!! Hear it now?? Wedding bells!! Finally the day has come when my youngest sister is getting married!! I am so excited for them..I tell you what yesterday we went shopping for different things and found some bridemaids dresses, and all night long I dreamed of dresses and going crazy trying to find the ties to match. It seems a little crazy to me that I am dreaming this. But I guess I have her wedding jitters and wedding stresses. She is having an outdoor country wedding which I know will be beautiful. Good luck Crystal and Sam!!
Shades!! For mature audiences ONLY!!
Need a good book or books to read?? I suggest to all to read Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker, and Fifty Shades Freed. I read these and I LOVE THEM, but at first when I was reading Fifty Shade of Grey I wanted to stop reading just because it seemed a little crazy and kinda embrassed me. I am so glad I continued reading. I can't wait for the movie and I am hoping there are movies for all 3 books. I would love for Colin Egglesfield to play Christian Grey and not sure who I think should play Anastasia Steele.
This is a trilogy and believe me you will want to continue to read them all.
#1- Fifty Shades of Grey
#2- Fifty Shades Darker
#3- Fifty Shades Freed
